The Anchorage is a delightful, white washed property, built around 200 years ago. It is situated on the cliff edge in the waterside hamlet of Portmellon just a short walking distance from the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey.
The Anchorage bed and breakfast offers its guests a peaceful, tranquil and relaxing atmosphere..... It has wonderful seaviews out across Mevagissey Bay and Chapel Point from the garden and all rooms. It is the ideal base for those who love to visit gardens, walk the delightful coastal path, sight see or to just simply relax....
Accommodation
This charming Georgian house with considerable character, has three double bedrooms, two of which are en-suite and the third, has the use of its own private bathroom.... The bedrooms are well furnished, spacious and light and with their stunning sea views, are the perfect retreat at the end of a busy day to relax and unwind. You may also be lucky enough to spot the dolphins or seals which are seen in the bay, or even the occassional basking shark...... All the bedrooms have a radio, colour TV and facilities to make tea and coffee....
There is a lounge for guests use, which looks out to sea and over our attractive garden, which is home to numerous species of garden birds, whilst the cliffs around, are home to the various species of breeding sea birds during the Spring. We regret that the Anchorage is not suitable for very young children, pets or smokers.
Breakfast at The Anchorage
For breakfast we can offer a full English/part English, vegetarian or continental style meal. Home made bread and fresh fruit are usually available. Special diets can be catered for, but notice of requirements would be appreciated please.
Location
Portmellon is a small coastal hamlet just 6 miles south of St Austell, which is situated at the north eastern corner of the tri-angular "Roseland Peninsula", with St Mawes at the southern tip.
Being in the heart of Cornwall the whole county is easily accessible to our visitors, with the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan very close at hand...
Portmellon itself is clustered around a tiny sheltered bay which in olden times was a favourite haunt of smugglers. There is a pub, The Rising Sun, which opens daily from March to October, whose restaurant serves lunches and evening meals.
In Summer a number yachts can be seen anchored in the bay which makes an attractive sight.
